Examine community policing philosophy and practice. Compare and contrast Problem Oriented Policing (“POP�) and Community Oriented Policing (“COP�). Analyze problem solving models, dispute resolution strategies, and police community relationships. Explore the changing roles of leadership, mitigating factors in community policing, officer evaluation techniques, and organizational structures that facilitate the implementation of community policing initiatives. Conduct research in one of the following areas to generate advanced knowledge of community policing: Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (“CPTED�), Chicago’s Alternative Policing Strategy (“CAPS�), CRIMESTOPPERS, or Parole Notification Programs.
